Although Sunday was the day of elections in the Republic of Kosovo, on 06.10.19 in the city of Peja it took place in the theater “Istref Begolli” the concert of the Kosovo Youth Orchestra. In this concert participated the GACC Choir from Frankfurt, Germany, the choir of the music school “Halit Kasapolli” from Peja and a youth choir from Prishtina specially made for this project.

This concert brought many new things, the soloists were young men and women: Edina Pllana, Rina Kurteshi and Mirlinda Kurteshi all sopranos,  Lavdrim Morina and Arber Maliqi both of them baritone.

The whole concert was directed or conducted by Linda Horowitz from Germany, then by Edon Ramadani being active in cultural and professional life in the city of Prishtina and by Kushtrim Gashi living and working in cultural life in Germany.

The concert was held in front of not so many people, and this was also a weakness of the organizing this concert as it lacked proper information. It would be great for the audience to attend such high artistic level especially knowing that Peja is rarely visited by these kinds of musical formations.

The characteristic of this orchestra is that it consists of young people of all Albanian speaking areas who have studied or are still studing in the faculties of music and are led by two conductors Edon Ramadani and Kushtrim Gashi. They try as much as possible to revive the cultural life of Kosovo and to offer to the young people to the appropriate level of cultural artistic activity.

The concert program included works by: Georg Bizet, Jacques Offenbach, Bedrich Smetana, Henry Purcell, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Lehar, Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Wagner and the work “Unë, biri yt Kosovë” by the Albanian composer Feim Ibrahim that was arranged by Edon Ramadani. This concert was only for five days and it shows that when people want to work they can do it. The concert was really at the right artistic level and was well received by the audience, wishing we had as many as these concerts.
