The speech at Feim Ibrahimi commemorative concert

I had a very few  time to prepare what I would like to say at the Feim Ibrahimi Commemorative Concert organized by TOB.

I tried to list a few words that would constitute what I am convinced on  my beloved composer and professor.

For all those who couldn’t attend the event this is my speech on this occasion:

“Feim Ibrahimi was the missionary of contemporary music in Albania. From the beginning of his creative journey he shocked the small musical world of the period with the Piano Concerts. This hit  happened several times, with the oboe concert, the solo flute suite, the Poem “Tan Albania is betue”, the Trion “Vikama” symphony for orchestra, with ballet “Gjergj Elez Alia”, tragic symphony or many miniature romances. After 90 he was the first to apply electroacoustic music and again settled  a standard mark with “De profondus”. This piece will remain for a long time the best example for the young composers of our music.

Feim Ibrahimi, if we try to reflect the historical diagram of our musical genres we will find that it stands in the most visionary and most accomplished examples of its kind. Let us mention: Concerts, Ballet, Symphony and Symphony for Strings, Chamber Music, Romances etc.

Coexistence with time did not prevent him from guiding the technical processes of our music to revolutionize it, to bring it closer to the most advanced techniques of the century. So he followed serialism in the suite for Flute solo, followed neoclassicism in piano concerts to find his way with later works to the tragic Symphony. It was not a simple journey it was full of obstacles, elaborate forms not to be denigrated by the ignorance that surrounded it, or by the vigilant ideology itself, but it was a glorious journey designed with a vision for the future that it will long consider as the parable of his own pursuit. “
