The National Music and the need to re-evaluate it.

The acclaimed composer and conductor Rafet Rudi is one of the precious figures of culture in Prishtina and beyond.

In the context of writing his second book of essays [1] on our Albanian music developments, he sendt to our online magazine this article. This is a kind of interview on our music in Albania and that in Kosovo. His idea of recognizing and studying our musical developments on both sides of the border remains an important and delicate task to accomplish.

Being direct, courageous, visionary and competent, Rudi explains the aspects that used to be as “taboo” up to date for our musicology.

Thus he is giving a concrete help in addressing the History of Albanian Music which will be on the way soon, after a long absence. So, the author of the article raises the necessary need for the re-evaluation of our musical culture, by “touching the wound”: the lack of discussions and musicological writings in our country.
