The “George Enescu” competition is an international platform for launching future world-class musicians and promoting Romanian artist compositions to new generations of artists. This competition is a natural extension of the Enescu Festival. The competition has four sections: violin, cello, piano and composition. This competition ranks in the top five classical music competitions in the world. The winners of the George Enescu International Competition 2020 in these four sections will receive a special prize, which has already been introduced as a new package: a concert at the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in November 2021, at the Musikverein Golden Hall in Vienna. The three winners will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano as part of the composer’s 250th birthday celebrations. The award was given by the IMK Society for the Promotion of Music and Culture in Vienna. It is an organization that works with musicians like: Maxim Vengerov or Mischa Maisky and that promotes projects in collaboration with famous companies: Sony, Decca, and Deutsche Gramophon.
