“Turandot” to take place on Parma Theater stage
Giacomo Puccini’s latest opera, the masterpiece “Turandot”, will open on January 10 at 8pm at the Regio Theater in Parma. Other performances will be staged on January 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19.
The President of the Republic, Sergio Matarela, is expected to attend the show on December 12. He will be present at the inauguration of Parma, the Italian Capital of Culture 2020.
In the three main roles will be: Rebecca Locar and France Dariz (Turandot), Carlo Ventre and Samuele Simoncini (Calaf), Vittoria Yeo and Marta Torbidoni (Liù).
Puccini died shortly before the final duet was completed and the work was completed by Franco Alfano who worked on the basis of the composer’s mark.
The first time he appeared in Scala on April 26, 1926, Arturo Toscanini stopped the execution by explaining: “Here ends the opera left unfinished by Puccini due to death.”
