The patient plays the violin while undergoing brain surgery
A patient hospitalized at a British hospital has played a piece by Mahler and Gershwin on the violin while doctors were operating a brain tumor. Doctors developed a plan of action for her to maintain her ability to play music and maintain her 40-year-old passion for violin. According to Reuters reported Wednesday, Dagmar Turner, 53, a former business adviser on the Island of Wight, played the violin during surgery to remove a tumor formation in the right frontal lobe. She was operated near that area of the brain where the left-hand movement control centers are located.
