The eighth edition of the European Summer Music Academy – ESMA is coming to a close with August.

The Academy will be run again in Kosovo in Pristina, Peja and Gjakova from 22 August to 01 September 2019.


The European Summer Music Academy will hold instrumental courses, chamber music and various art events.


Young musicians (ages 13 to 27) from Southeast European countries and beyond have the opportunity again to receive various lessons, knowledge, advice and demonstrations on relevant instruments from renowned European professors and also to meet to share music experiences with their colleagues from different European countries.

The 8th edition of ESMA 2019 Summer Music Academy offers these instrumental courses in:

Gjakova Piano (Ardita Statovci, Austria & Desar Sulejman, Germany) Violin (Johannes Fleischmann, Austria) Viola (Karin Dolman, The Netherlands) Violonçel (Petr Nouzovsky, Czech Republic) Composition (Camille Kerger, Luxembourg) as well Orchestral Conducting and Musical Theater (Desar Suleyman, Germany)

 Peja Flute (Michèle Becker France / Germany) Clarinet (Jordi Pons, Spain / Switzerland) Trombone (Ladislav Kozderka, Czech Republic)

Pristina Soloist and Musical Theater (Caroline Isabel Merz, Götz Seiz and Desar Sulejmani, Germany).

Participants in ESMA 2019 will also have the opportunity to take part in some piano chamber music courses as well as archery and wind instruments. As in the past, this year as well, this year ESMA 2019 is supported by several European embassies in Kosovo, the municipality of Mitrovica, the municipality of Peja, the municipality of Gjakova, the Rotary Club Aachen – Land (Germany) and other Rotary Clubs of the Aachen- as well as other local and international institutions and supporters.

ESMA 2019 is headed by its Executive and Artistic Director, Mr. Desar Sulejmani in collaboration with local organizations Artium Eudora – ArtEU (Prishtina / Peja / Gjakova) and Kosovo Ars (Mitrovica).

The start of the ESMA 2019 season was in Mitrovica, where guitar lessons, guitar ensembles were successfully completed in mid-July and several concerts and other art events were held.
