A masterpiece birth…

The famous Bolero of Moris Ravel, the work  that surprised the world in the early decades of the twentieth century  has remained to date as one of the most inspirational and attractive works for all the choreographers of the world. It has an interesting story.
Ravel in January 1928  agreed to write a ballet piece, with Spanish motifs for dancer and Russian actress Ida Rubinstein. He had thought that all works were to be constructed from a single theme, which during its growth would be transformed harmoniously and mainly into orchestral sound. On a hot July day, when he was on vacation in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the famous theme of Bolero came to mind. The preparation of the score lasted only 5 months. Once his idea was discovered he said, “Every conservative student might have done this.” During the 15 minutes on the percussion rhythm, the famous theme that passes from Do Mori in Mi Mora and ends in the famous final fireworks is presented many times. Bolero appeared for the first time at the Paris Opera on November 20, 1928, and was welcomed with great ovations, as expected every time it is shown worldwide.
