“Gabriel” Quartet held a concert in “German October”
We are already in the middle of the month and “German October” is taking place. This year’s motto is “Perspective: Europe”. Music has not been absent in this edition either. On the afternoon of Thursday, October 8, the concert “European Sounds on the Roofs of Tirana – Gabriel Quartet” was held. The Gabriel Quartet consists of the following instrumentalists: Nikola Kondakçi – first violin, Greta Radovani – second violin, Flobens Zyma – viola, Dorina Laro – cello. The “Gabriel” String Quartet, consisting of four Albanian musicians, brought classical harmonies to the Terrace of the Municipality of Tirana within the German October. They played the quartet for bows no. 2 in G major, Op. 18, no. 2 by Ludëig von Beethoven and the quartet for bows Op. 27 in G minor of Edvard Grieg. Beethoven and Grieg are two of the most successful ambassadors of European culture, their works have become successes for the world public. Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 – 1827) is considered the most played classical composer in the world. With his radical way of making art he has been the inspiration and role model for countless people. Beethoven’s work is visionary. His music reflects European society in radical transformation. In the jubilee year of Beethoven 2020, 250 years after his birth, this composer is more than ever a true icon. Edvard Grieg (1843 – 1907) was a Norwegian pianist and composer of the Romantic period. He became famous primarily through the composition of the Peer-Gynt-Suite. The concert was also broadcast live on the Facebook page of the German Embassy The musical activity was organized by the German Embassy in Tirana with the support of the “Different Trains” Festival and the Municipality of Tirana.
