Twelve unknown works by Giacomo Puccini come into light

12 unpublished compositions for organ by Giacomo Puccini  were discovered in the archives of the composer’s villa in “Torre del Lago”. This is what the Classic Voice (www.classicvoice.com) magazine has written on the new issue that will be released on April 25, 2018. According to this monthly texts are short compositions for liturgical functions that lead to the 1873- 1880, when Xhakomo’s young man served as organist at the San Girolamo church in Lucca. This finding owes Gabriella Biagi Ravenni and Virgilio Bernardoni, who are respectively the president and vice president of the “Giacomo Puccini” Study Center. “Classic Voice” explains that the manuscripts, some of which were even signed, were in the archive of “Torre del Lagos”. Perhaps there have always been, but no one had ever been able to analyze and recognize the authorship of the great composer. The very possibility now to enter the precious fund for scholars opens up new perspectives for research.
