Franco Abbiati Award for the conductor Pappano

The National Association of Music Critics gave the Anglo-Italian maestro Antonio Pappano the “Franco Abbiati” award.

Pappano was selected as the best conductor for the Interpretation with the Orchestra and Choir of the Santa Cecilia National Academy of the West Side Story and the entirety of Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonies. This reverence is added to those previously received by the Santa Cecilia Music Director for Bernstein-related productions. On January 17, the International Commission of International Classical Music Awards announced the list of winners including Pappano, who was honored in the symphonic category for recording the Warner Classics Symphony of the American composer and conductor. On 2 April, the Belgian Music Press Association included the entirety of Bernstein Symphony between the winners of “Prix Caecilia 2019”.
