The world to be anxious for Aretha Franklin, “The Queen of Soul”
She made Obama crying with “You feel like a natural woman”, she was the first woman to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and it was the state of Michigan who declared her voice as a “natural source.” Over 60 years of her career, Aretha Franklin has delighted the world with her voice. Today the soul music queen is in Detroit hospital very sick. She has been diagnosed with cancer since 2010 but has always refused to give details of her illness. The deterioration of health caused her to cancel a series of concerts last year when she also claimed withdrawal from the scene, but emphasizing that she would follow the recordings. Her last appearance was in New York at the Elton John Foundation Galaxy for AIDS Fighting. At the last concert in June 2017, among the audience she applauded, she excitedly exclaimed, “Please keep me in your prayers”. Born in Memphis, Tenesee on March 25, 1942, the daughter of a Baptist pastor and a plethora of pianists and vocalists, Franklin, started kicking off in religious services. When she was less than four years old her family moved to Detroit and at age 10, shortly after her mother died, she started singing as a soloist at the church where her father was a pastor.
