One of the stars of today’s pianism
Mei Yi Foo is definitely one of the pianist stars of our day. She was born in Malaysia and has the opportunity to study piano at the age of 4, to continue in England at the Wells Cathedral School, and then the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.
Mei Yi Foo is a BBC Award winner. In 1013 she captivated critics and audiences at the BBC Music Magazine with her “liberated” talk in the Times. Her debut on this day at the Lucerne Festival and Named “Event of the Year” by SRF and she continues to captivate audiences across Europe, America and Asia. After her first Maria Kalas Award in Athens, Mei Yi has become “a first-rate pianist” (according to BBC Radio) and a “rising star” (according to International Piano Magazine). Well-known critic David Nice Write:, “her geniality is now indisputable.”
Mei Yi Foo is famous for this in contemporary music. As a new music advocate, she works regularly with living composers including Dai Fujikura, Richard Baker, Chris Harman and Unsuk Chin, and appears at Berlin’s Ultraschall Festival, Punkt Festival in Norway, Poznan Spring, Das Neue Werk in Hamburg and recently as featured artist for the series ‘Music of Today’ at the Royal Festival Hall. Mei Yi’s new season will continue with performances at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Petronas Philharmonic Hall and the Royal Albert Hall.
A few years ago she gave a concert in Tirana in the hall of the University of Arts.
