Music in Milan Fashion Week
Models wear Picasso-inspired violins, guitars and mandolins at Milan Fashion Week
Musical references infiltrated the Pablo Picasso-themed collection at Milan Fashion Week, with guitars, mandolins and violins playing their part on the catwalk. In the notes for his Moschino spectacular at Milan Fashion Week, fashion designer Jeremy Scott wrote: “Muses inspire artists and artists inspire the world.”
An in ode to art itself, models came out at the Moschino SS20 collection dressed as a walking painting and contained in a giant gilded frame, while others carried paint-can bags. There was also a decidedly Spanish influence in Scott’s pieces.
But most notably (well, to us, anyway), the catwalk was also filled with musical references, including guitar-shaped dresses and miniature instrumental accessories.
Model Kaia Gerber donned a guitar-shaped cocktail dress which referenced Picasso’s Girl with Mandolin, 1910, while other models, including Bella Hadid, carried miniature mandolins and violins.
