“I’m extremely excited to be able to share with you that I’ve been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Years Honours list for services to dance and UK Russia cultural relations!
Soon it will be 9 years since I first boarded that plane to leave London and join the Mariinsky Theatre and I’ve always said that I hope my presence here will be to the benefit of the relationship between the United Kingdom and Russia. Of course that is especially important right now.
I am extremely grateful to the Mariinsky Theatre management, my director and mentor Yuri Fateyev and my boss Maestro Gergiev for giving me the career I could only dream about while in the Royal Ballet’s corps de ballet & of course to my coach Igor Petrov. I’m so grateful to my friends and colleagues here in the Mariinsky who have become my theatre family! The Russian people are a warm and special people and I’m honoured to live amongst them and call St Petersburg home!
My deepest thanks also are due to the wonderful team at the British Embassy in Moscow UK in Russia and especially our Ambassador, Laurie Bristow! I hope and pray that the relationship between the UK & Russia will only improve as our two great nations have so much to offer each other”.
